Standing at the top of a mountain, the silence is eerie, only the nervous chatter of your fellow skiers and snowboarders reminds you that you are not deserted in a backcountry wilderness of deep Canadian powder.

You can feel the anticipation well up inside you with the knowledge that the next half hour is going to be arguably the best thirty minutes of your life: 1800 seconds of pure skiing pleasure floating through the deepest, lightest, driest, fluffiest snow you have ever come across.

Work? Marriage? Kids? Money? Nothing else matters apart from nailing this terrain. “It is going to be tough, my thighs are going to scream but I will not buckle, I will nail this!” Concentration is drawing in, you shut yourself off from everything and everyone else, you pick a line, you picture your turns, you will not stop.

Heliskiing and catskiing are awesome. Words and pictures do not come halfway to being close to describing the feeling of floating through the snow. And it doesn’t come much better than British Columbia powder. 95% of the world’s heliskiing and catskiing takes place in British Columbia because of the expansive, unspoilt mountainous terrain and the powder snow: reliable in both quantity and quality.
