Nightlife at Big White
Ski & Snowboard Instructor Course Resort Guide
1. Night Skiing (or Night Riding!!!)
Many will want to carry on skiing or snowboarding after normal lift-closing hours to take advantage of the night skiing that is on offer until 8pm from Tuesday to Saturday. Skiing or snowboarding under floodlights is a new experience but make sure that you wrap up warm!
2. Chillin out'
For those interested in resting up their weary limbs, a nice home-cooked meal in the chalet and then a relaxing evening in front of a roaring fire, a hot-tub session and an opportunity to take advantage of the stereo, Cable TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi Internet may be just the ticket!
3. Rippin’ it up
When the chairlifts eventually do close down, Big White comes alive with an exciting array of activities. Every night there is something different and exciting happening at Big White; from live après-ski entertainment, to movie nights, outdoor bonfires, fireworks, and carnival nights. The social life of a student on a SnowSkool instructor training course will involve a few visits to Snowshoe Sam’s – voted Canada’s No. 1 Ski Bar. At Big White, there are 18 on-mountain restaurants, cafes, pubs and nightclubs for you to check out and that is not to mention all the house-parties that will take place on a regular basis.
What is more your SnowSkool reps will organise group activities on a regular basis: trips to ice hockey matches, snow-tubing, dog-sledding, ski-dooing, ice-skating….the list goes on!
Attractions
No season spent in Big White Ski Resort is complete without a few trips down to Kelowna (known locally as K-Town!). With its lake and temperate summer climate, Kelowna is known as the California of Canada. And it has the attractions to match…with world-class golf courses and a thriving wine industry producing excellent red and white wine. There is a lot to do in the evenings too and your SnowSkool reps will organise regular trips to ice hockey matches, the cinema or for a bar crawl in the pubs, bars and clubs in Kelowna.
WORD OF WARNING: You are joining an intensive ski or snowboard instructor training course and so will be skiing or riding through deep powder for long hours during the day. Rest is essential!
