Working as a Ski or
Snowboard Instructor
SnowSkool ski and snowboard instructor training programmes give you the training and qualifications to become a ski or snowboard instructor. So what can you expect from a career as a snowboard or ski instructor?

The Lifestyle
Many of you will have joined SnowSkool to escape a life of drudgery... no sitting in front of a computer in a grey office for nine hours every day for you! Life as a ski or snowboard instructor allows you the opportunity to ski or ride every, to live in the fresh mountain air, the sun on your face, the powder underfoot teaching others to do what you love. The life of a ski instructor or snowboard instructor is a very rewarding and enjoyable one.
Profile Eon van Zyl, 26.
"I joined SnowSkool in Big White in 2006 where I was able to gain my level 1 & 2 CSIA qualification as well as my Race Coach Qualification. This enabled me to get a job in Big White and I have now worked the past three seasons there. Life as a ski instructor is sweet, I spend all day teaching people to ski (or ski better!) and, in the evenings, I'll hang out with other instructors from the Ski School, open a beer and chat about the day's riding as well as getting excited about tomorrow! In the northern summer, I either work as a ski instructor in New Zealand or head back to my native South Africa."

The Pay
The wages of a ski or snowboard instructor will differ dramatically depending on your qualifications, skills and the country and resort in which you work. The more qualifications you have, the more money you are likely to earn. Without putting a figure on it, your wages will provide you with enough money to pay rent, buy groceries, buy equipment and enjoy the social life of a snowboard or ski instructor in resort. That is before tips though.
"On my first day working the Adult Programme in Breckenridge,
Colorado, I was given a $100 tip and they kept coming all season!"
- Richard Quirk, Ski Instructor and graduate of SnowSkool 2005.
