SNOWBOARD & SKI INSTRUCTOR COURSE RESORT GUIDE

Big Sky is the latest resort to be added to the SnowSkool stable but, like most Americans, is already making a lot of noise and clamouring to be centre of attention! Big Sky is crazy big with just short of 5500 acres of skiable terrain, more than half of which is in the advanced/ expert category. Throw in 4350ft of vertical drop (second most in the USA) and more than 35ft of snow in the average winter and you are talking about a very serious ski resort. No wonder it is not content to sit quietly in the corner!

One of the most noticeable things about Big Sky is the wide open space you will be given to ski/ snowboard even on the busiest weeks. The resort is consistently recognized in national ski magazines for short or non-existent lift queues and fresh powder can always be found, even if a few days go by without any new snowfall (which is, of course, a rarity!). As a ski-in/ ski-out mountain village, the sense of community is fantastic and you’ll soon get to know the liftie running the Ramcharger High Speed Quad, the very Montana dude working the bar at Whisky Jacks and the chick that winks when she lets you into the Fitness Centre and Pools!

There’s so much going on at Big Sky even when the chairlifts stop - some awesome saloons (this is the Wild West after all!), BASE CAMP (zipline, high ropes course, bungee trampoline, climbing wall, tube park) sleigh rides, full-service spa and the best of all a day trip to Yellowstone National Park to see buffalos, wolves, bears as well as a number of amazing geysers. Yellowstone National Park has to be on your must-see list!

SLOPE SIDE ACCOMMODATION

SnowSkool has got the Big Horn. And so will you when you come to Big Sky. Big Horn condominiums are slope-side, just across the road from the Bear Back Poma (honestly – we couldn’t make this up!) and an ideal base for SnowSkool students. Large, open-plan living over two floors with all mod cons. All SnowSkool Big Horn units are three-bed and will house six students with acres of space to spread out and relax after a hard day’s skiing. Big Horn units are a five-minute walk from the village centre and all residents have free access to the gym, swimming pool and spa facilities.
