SKIING INSTUCTOR COURSE IN NEW ZEALAND
Cool Sport, Cool Town, Cool Country
Did you know that whilst us Poms are whiling away the months of July, August and September drinking Pimms and playing croquet, the Kiwis are hitting up the ski slopes? Not quite getting it? Ok...get this: summer in the northern hemisphere = winter in the southern hemisphere. Ta-Dah...! And what a place it is to spend winter - Wanaka is cooler than the other side of the pillow. Set at one edge of a beautiful lake and surrounded by stunning snow-capped peaks, Wanaka is a very chill little town and is the kind of place where you see the supermarket checkout assistant who served you yesterday, pulling a corked nine off the biggest booter today! SnowSkool loves Wanaka.
For the instructor course, we ski at Treble Cone (or TC). TC is very much as local’s hill and it is sufficient to say that locals know best. At TC, SnowSkool works with the A-Team – a team of scarily-qualified ski instructors pulled from the best Ski Schools in the northern hemisphere. Amongst our team are Ski School Directors from major Canadian resorts and the former CEO of BASI.

Who chooses this ski course?

The age range on our NZ skiing instructor course tends to be between 18 and 35. A lot of the participants are those who have just finished School or graduated University and want an instructor course that does not necessitate a gap year. The SnowSkool NZ skiing instructor course is also a popular starting point for those on extended travels throughout the world.
To give yourself a good chance of succeeding and becoming a NZSIA level 2 ski instructor during the SnowSkool 10 week programme, you have to join this programme as a pretty competent skier. The best guide is to state that you must be a good parallel skier on red runs. The timing of the course is ideal for those that are looking to complete their training during the “off-season” and be qualified and stoked to begin work in November, at the start of the northern hemisphere winter.
If you've got this far, surely you're convinced that New Zealand's for you ... but if not, find out about SnowSkool's other ski instructor training courses.

As you'll see the scenery is uninspiring, the accommodation is slum-like and people generally have a pretty miserable time. Don't know why anyone would want to book onto the SnowSkool skiing instructor course in NZ...NOT!!!
Kiwi Ski Qualifications
NZSIA Level 1 & Level 2 Ski Instructor

Level 1 of the NZSIA (New Zealand Ski Instructors’ Alliance) is the starting point for every budding ski instructor in New Zealand. This is an entry level qualification that would permit you to work as a ski instructor in NZ. Only. If you are looking to broaden your horizons and work the slopes of resorts in both the northern and southern hemispheres, you have to aim for the NZSIA level 2 ski instructor qualification. This is all part of the SnowSkool skiing instructor course. It is a tough road to follow but the prize is status as a ski instructor with a qualification that is highly respected throughout the world.

Uni summer holiday skiing instructor course
Adam Moore, 22, SnowSkool New Zealand, 2008.

“I chose a skiing instructor course in NZ because I could fit it in without taking a full gap-year after University ... and I chose SnowSkool because it ticked all the boxes (lovely accommodation, strong training programme, sick hill) but, mostly, because I just got a good feel for the company through chatting with the guys in the office. Season was awesome, Wanaka is such an amazing place, made some great friends, passed my Level 2. Now working as a Primary School Teacher and instructing during the School Holidays!”
