SNOWBOARD INSTRUCTOR TRAINING IN BIG WHITE
Big Mountain Riding With Small Village Feel
Everyone rides better with friends, right? That is what riding is like in Big White, the ideal combination of a village community with big mountain riding where everyone knows or kinda knows everyone else. That’s why SnowSkool chose to operate a snowboard instructor course at Biggie, way back in 2005. That, and the powder which is reputed to be Canada’s best...and the fact that lift lines are pretty much non-existent...and the tree-riding which is unreal...and the terrain park which would test the toughest freestylers.
Since our first snowboard course in 2005, SnowSkool has maintained a pass rate of 100% for the CASI Level 1 snowboard instructor exam. This is down to the structured approach to teaching snowboarding practiced (five hours per day, five days per week) by SnowSkool’s snowboard instructors in Big White. Rather than separate the most experienced and least experienced riders, SnowSkool favours a mixed-ability approach where students can learn from each other under the supervision of a highly-qualified and experienced snowboard instructor. Six years of courses is testament to this approach working very well.
SnowSkool is Big White
Don't be a guinea pig!

It's not easy taking 50+ people from many different countries to Big White for 11 weeks, it's tougher still that it's winter and the cold is biting. But the hardest thing is to ensure that we treat every customer as an individual, look after their unique requirements and run courses with very little negative feedback.
To achieve this requires precise organisation and, most importantly, lots of experience. We've been operating in Big White since 2006, our principal reps have four seasons experience each, we have built solid relationships with our suppliers for ground transportation, accommodation and catering. If there were problems, there now is not. We're not the cheapest...we're the best!

Who chooses this course?

With an age range of 18-60, it's difficult to summarise! But it's fair to say that people are attracted to SnowSkool’s accommodation – very luxurious ski-in/ ski-out apartments, all with private hot-tubs and access to a swimming pool and gym.
The snow at Big White is a further reason a lot of people join this snowboard instructor training programme ... it can often be a boarder's first taste of deep powder-snow!! The terrain also lends itself to dramatic improvements in your riding.
Finally, the Big White Ski School has a fantastic record of employing snowboard instructors from the SnowSkool programme because they regard the SnowSkool snowboard instructor training course as an eleven-week interview.
If you've got this far, surely you're convinced that Big White's for you ... but if not, find out where else you can become a snowboard instructor with SnowSkool.
Snowboard Instructor Qualifications
CASI Level 1 & Level 2 snowboard instructor

In Big White, the snowboard instructor training conforms to the standards set out by CASI – the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors. SnowSkool students train through CASI Level 1 and CASI Level 2. This is the level at which you can go on to work as a snowboard instructor throughout the world.
SnowSkool’s snowboarders will also be involved in freestyle riding – very much a part of the snowboarding culture. You can be certified in this field too with the CASI Snowpark Certificate.

Jayna Allen, 28, SnowSkool Big White 2008

“The first thing to hit you is the accommodation! Hats off, SnowSkool had sold it well – the hot-tubs, private cinemas, gym, swimming pool – but it still massively exceeded expectation! On the first night, five of us piled in there with a cold beer and chilled for an hour! Anyway...on with the course! The snow is amazing in Biggie – so light and fluffy, the tree-riding was the absolute best and everything just came together so well. I passed my Level 2 and had an awesome season in Big White!”
